PCSI is Ready to Distribute Books, Courtesy of Reading Ready Pittsburgh

Posted on: April 9, 2026

Reading Ready Pittsburgh

Earlier this month, PCSI was thrilled to welcome Mark Sepe from Reading Ready Pittsburgh, who generously donated 60 books to be shared with PCSI customers who have children in their households. The books cover a wide range of reading levels, from Pre-K through high school, ensuring that children of all ages can enjoy and benefit from them.

Reading Ready Pittsburgh is dedicated to supporting the healthy development of young people by increasing access to books and encouraging meaningful family engagement through reading. Their programs include

  • B is for Books – a free bookstore for children and their families.
  • Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library – provides a free book each month to children under age five until their fifth birthday.
PCSI staff members display some of the donated books available.

Through these initiatives, Reading Ready brings the joy of reading to countless families across Pittsburgh and throughout Allegheny County.

At PCSI, empowering families includes promoting lifelong healthy habits like reading. In 2025, PCSI assisted over three hundred households with children; with our new partnership, we will provide free books to any family with children under the age of 17, through our Healthy Parenting Program, our food pantry, employment support, or any other PCSI program.

Together with Reading Ready Pittsburgh, we look forward to helping make reading more accessible, more engaging, and a fun experience for every household we serve.
