October 16 was a busy day at PCSI, as Prep School participants celebrated their graduation and had a chance to put some of their new job-readiness skills into practice.

As part of the final day of Prep School, participants joined a City of Pittsburgh Job Information Session where they could meet a recruiter, ask questions, and learn more about current City employment opportunities.

Devon L. Taliaferro, Talent Acquisition Coordinator with the City of Pittsburgh, joined PCSI staff Reggie Good, Job Developer & Retention Case Manager, and Mark Petrovich, Employment Readiness & Retention Trainer, for the session.

The event gave Prep School participants an opportunity to practice talking with an employer in a supportive setting while learning about real job openings. The session was also open to members of the general public who wanted to learn more about working for the City of Pittsburgh.

PCSI’s Prep School helps participants build confidence, strengthen job-readiness skills, and prepare for the next step in their employment journey. Bringing an employer into the final day gave participants a chance to use what they had been learning throughout the week in a real conversation.
