On December 2, Stand with PCSI to Help Bridge the Gaps During Give Big Pittsburgh

November 25, 2025

Bridging Gaps in Our City

Pittsburgh is known as a city of bridges – but it’s also a city of gaps. Every day, Pittsburgh Community Services, Inc. (PCSI) helps bridge those gaps by connecting people to resources that promote stability, mobility, and self-sufficiency.

This year, PCSI is proud to announce our participation in Give Big Pittsburgh on Tuesday, December 2 – a city-wide day of giving that highlights the local organizations making a difference across our city.

A recent Pre-Employment Preparation (Pr.E.P) School cohort celebrates completing the program. Each participant received 24 total hours of hands-on training and skill building as well as one-on-one case management and job coaching.

Our Impact This Year

The need across our city continues to grow. Over the past year, demand for our food pantry assistance has doubled, reflecting the rising costs families are facing. We have helped more than 100 people secure employment and 50 more receive employment-related credentials or certificates that enhance employment opportunities. We have also assisted households in accessing more than $180,000 in utility assistance to maintain stability.

Through a mix of programs that support financial stability and economic mobility, PCSI remains focused on helping individuals and families build stronger foundations for their futures.

A Story of Success: Meet Nikia

Miss Nikia

When Nikia came to PCSI in July 2025, she was ready for a new direction and the tools to build a stable future. With help from our team, she gained the skills and confidence to take her next step.

After graduating from PCSI’s Pre-Employment Preparation (Pr.E.P.) School program, Nikia began full-time employment as a Program Support Specialist at a local nonprofit.

“Thanks for all the continued support, PCSI!” she shared.

Nikia’s success is one example of how PCSI programs help Pittsburghers turn opportunity into lasting progress.
