PCSI in Action – August 2025

August 26, 2025

As a Community Action Agency, PCSI is committed to working alongside the communities we serve to create lasting impact. Each month, we have the privilege of collaborating with leaders across Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, strengthening partnerships and advancing our shared mission of community empowerment.

On August 16, we joined the JADA House International Back to School Blast Off at Mill 19 in Hazelwood. Co-hosted by JADA House International and Hazelwood Café, the event welcomed families with free backpacks, school supplies, and haircuts, plus plenty of food, entertainment, and community resources to help kick off the school year.

PCSI shared books and program information with attendees, connecting with families from Hazelwood and beyond as they prepared for a successful start to the school year.

Manchester Day

Just a week later, on August 23, PCSI took part in Manchester Community Day, a two-day celebration hosted by the Manchester Neighborhood Committee at Manchester Field. The event brought neighbors together for games, live music, food trucks, and opportunities to connect with local organizations and businesses.

At our table, visitors could sign up for free CPR classes, pick up flyers, and learn more about the programs we offer. It was a joy to meet community members, share resources, and celebrate the people, entrepreneurs, and organizations that make Manchester vibrant.

Together, these events reflect what PCSI values most: building connections, supporting families, and strengthening communities through opportunity and engagement.
